Chris Welford

You are in safe hands. I'm a fully trained psychotherapist, business psychologist and qualified executive coach. Starting off in HR and then working in management consultancy has given me a lot of organisational understanding too. You can see from my from my details that I'm BPS and BACP registered and I think that's important. Qualifications don't tell you if someone is right for you but they are at least a start point in helping you make the right choice. It's not necessary to be trained in psychology and therapy to be a coach but I do think it helps. So, if you are looking for coaching with some real depth, I can help.

Coaching approach

Coaching is a private conversation with someone who isn't going to judge you or push you into making decisions about your work that you aren't ready to make. My approach at the beginning is simple. I ask you what sort of coaching you need and together we agree how this is going to work. You are in control from the word go. You will have the choice about whether you want more listening than questioning, more challenge than empathy, whether you want to use tools and techniques or simply talk and even whether you welcome a bit of humour. Coaching is always always serious in intent but there's no rule that says it always has to be deadly serious all the time in style! You can choose to focus more on the past or the future and we can talk about what else you can do in your life to help you become the best version of you, outside of our sessions.
