The European Association for Supervision and Coaching (EASC) has become the 11th signatory of the Global Code of Ethics for coaching.
The Global Code of Ethics supports excellence in the development of coaching, mentoring, and supervision and raises the standards of practice of members. It was created by the Association for Coaching (AC) and the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC) in February 2016.
Susanne Rieger, president of the EASC, said, “As a European professional association for coaches and supervisors, we are committed to upholding ethical guidelines. Ethics are of great importance to our professions. At the same time, the implementation of high-quality standards and European and international networking are central to us as an association. Therefore, we feel and know that the Global Code of Ethics is a good fit for us. We commit ourselves as a board on behalf of our members to do our utmost to bring this [code] to life and to comply with it.”
The other signatories, in addition to the AC and EMCC Global, are the Associação Portuguesa de Gestão das Pessoas (Portuguese Association of People Management), Association for Professional Executive Coaching and Supervision, Associazione Italiana Coach Professionisti, Italy’s leading body in the coaching profession, International Mentoring Association, International Organization for Business Coaching, Association of Business Mentors, and COMENSA (Coaches and Mentors of South Africa).
The current signatories continue to invite other worldwide professional bodies in the field to join this initiative and become organisational signatories.
This Code has a wide impact in that it informs the work of people who may not be members of the signatory bodies but who practise coaching, mentoring, supervision and training-related activities or are sponsors, users, beneficiaries and purchasers of such services – anywhere in the world.
