More than a third of workers in the UK plan to change career this year, finds a survey of more than 2,000 people.

The survey for recruitment, training and deployment firm FDM Group revealed that half of all 16-24 year olds surveyed agreed that they would look to change their career in 2020.

Among those over 55, only 20% were considering a career change in the near future.

Fifty per cent of workers believe that their current job does not test them or make the most of their skillset, according to the survey conducted by independent polling company, Censuswide.

Some 20% of respondents think that their current job will become obsolete in the next five years due to tech change.

Of those surveyed, 31% said that they would be interested in a career in the tech/STEM industry while 39% believe that they studied a degree in the
wrong subject.

More than half (62%) of 16-24 year olds agreed that they would consider rejecting a job offer if the company had a substantial pay gap, compared to 55% of workers aged over 55.
