US STUDY: MENTAL ABUSE ‘LEAKS INTO WORKPLACE’

Being psychologically abused by a partner at home reduced the self-esteem and job performance of the person being targeted, finds research. Such abuse takes its toll on both women and men’s performance at work, but mentally distancing themselves from family when they’re at work diminishes the effects of abuse on performance for men. This doesn’t occur for women, finds the study, thought to be the first to show that psychological abuse at home by a partner leaks into the workplace.
