Thirty years experience working in the public and third sector. Employment, health and community development programmes and projects. I have worked at all levels of management. I am currently a Chief Executive of a local charity. I am also a local government officer leading projects working with communities and residents to deliver major regeneration. I start from a strong pragmatic person-centered base. Drawing from positive psychology - strengths and appreciative inquiry. Solution Focused and Motivational Interviewing are used with health issues. Other techniques and models are used as necessary such as cognitive or behavioral approaches. I do not use psychometric but like to use assessments drawn from positive psychology to aid client awareness, understanding and action. My sessions are structured around the GROW model. I have developed my own extension of this model which better fits my interests and approach. Goals, Reality, Responsibility, Resources, Options, Opportunities, Obstacles, Will. As appropriate I work through either Plan, Do, Review, Revise or Discover, Dream, Design, Destiny system. My sessions are normally 2 hours in length and involve lots of activity at the drawing board. There is lots of homework too.
