I am an experienced ‘People Professional’ with over 12 years working in the corporate environment including roles in HR, recruitment and consulting with Andersen’s, the Royal Bank of Scotland and Bank of Scotland. Since moving to New Zealand in 2006 I have worked as a self employed coach, specialising in Executive Coaching, Career Change and Outplacement. I trained as a coach with the Oxford School of Coaching (2005) where I spent seven-months intensively working to become a coach. This course is fairly unique in that it has a strong business focus and was therefore supported by Bank of Scotland where I was responsible for coaching the Top 25 leaders of the Motor Division, which included ad hoc development coaching for their 480 staff where required. I supplemented this Coach training in 2008 with a course in Career Coaching (run by Career Analysts - Auckland based occupational psychologists). I published my first book in 2009 (How to Keep Your Cool if You Lose Your Job; Longacre Press) and am now a regular contributor across NZ media (TV, newspapers, magazines), with the aim of encouraging balance, confidence and personal growth across the NZ world of work. This year, I was invited to launch and lead the Professionelle networking group for professional women in Christchurch, although I use my contacts in the media to ensure that the lessons we learn and the topics we discuss are shared with professional men too! While I am based in Christchurch, I have run coaching programmes with leaders and managers around the world – either via phone or Skype coaching and I would be delighted to support your personal development in any of my areas of expertise. My corporate and executive clients in the last 12 months have come from; BNZ, Meridian Energy, NZ Cricket, SCION, Red Bus, NZIM, DTZ, NZ Police, KPMG, Fonterra, and the National Aspiring Principals programme.

My coaching approach is highly pragmatic and tailored, but always very business focussed and we can support your programme with appropriate materials if required (e.g. DISC profile, Belbin Team Type, Myers Briggs, 360 feedback etc). I am accredited to use the DISC profiling system and an authorised practitioner of www.appraisal360.co.uk Because I have been a manager in addition to working with the HR teams responsible for leadership development, I have a good understanding of the real life challenges that come with ensuring the business needs are met, while also motivating and developing individual team members. With my experience in Learning & Development I can easily adapt to different learning styles, and my academic background and personal interest is workplace motivation; so I have extensive experience of using coaching skills to identify and encourage enthusiasm at work. “Kathryn has been an inspirational listener and someone who can be relied upon to ask those deeply probing questions to challenge my thinking”.
