Coaching approach

Coaching is about personal growth, experiential learning and real, current topics. It occurs in a supportive environment that allows clients to reflect away from routine pressures. Flexible and tailored to individual needs, coaching enables personal development to be immediately applicable. When coaching, I aspire to being genuine and open (congruent), warm and positive (accepting) and empathic. I use a wide range of interventions including different models and techniques and, if appropriate, will also draw on my own experience. The relationship is a dialogue of equals where the client sets the agenda and the coach guides the process, promoting self-direction rather than instructing or to solving problems. As a partnership, we will explore the client’s experience, meanings, issues and needs with a view to developing their skills, understanding, performance or behaviour.
