Bev Bookless

Profile

I have worked in the NHS for 36 years as a clinician, manager and leader at a local, regional and national level. I have experience in policy and strategy development and implementation. I have always used a coaching style to provide development for my line reports and developed a coaching culture in the national team I developed and lead for five years. I have developed the credibility to work at senior executive level over the last ten years. As Strategic Head of Talent Management at the North East SHA I facilitated and supported organisations across the north east to implement talent management processes. Successfully supported a ‘pool’ of senior executives with their career development and progression plans through coaching and action planning. I also have experience of being a coach and mentor tutor to 6 students undertaking an NHS Administration Foundation Degree through an Eblended programme. They have telephone coaching, mentoring and tutoring. This is working with NHS employees at a senior administration level or a junior manager. Eg Personal Assistants, junior contracts clerks. This requires a different approach and supporting them to move to independent learning as well as develop a skill and knowledge base for a role in the NHS administration. Coaching approach

I truly believe that everyone has within them the ability to find the way forward and personally and professionally develop. Therefore, the coaching approach I use is based on helping individuals become more aware of themselves, the impact they have upon others or their career and success through their behaviour and relationships. I use a psychologically minded approach based upon Gestalt and practice from other psychological applications such as cognitive behaviour coaching. An action driven approach with the agenda set by the coachee helps to achieve results. I have been described to have an effective empathic approach in my coaching style
