Dr Ann Armstrong Reid

Profile

I am an Association for Coaching Accredited Executive Coach with 25 years experience of different organisational cultures and leadership roles in the NHS in Scotland, England and Northern Ireland. I also bring international health experience from working in Ghana, West Africa, for 8 years. The strong connection between leadership communication and behaviour, job satisfaction and effectiveness, and work/life balance, are a vital part of my coaching. I understand how organisations work, what helps to get the best out of people, and what sometimes gets in the way. Since 2008 I have coached people at different levels in organisations - executives, senior leaders and managers - mainly in the public sector, some in the Private and Third sectors. Outcomes have included: achieving personal and organisational goals, improved communication in teams, better work/life balance and renewed confidence.

Coaching approach

My approach to coaching is to produce a safe, open, confidential and non-judgemental place where the client can reflect and raise the issues they want, and feel respected and valued for who they are. My aim is to create an environment that improves job performance and effectiveness, achieves goals and personal satisfaction and facilitates growth in learning. I have coached leaders who have felt overwhelmed, isolated and disempowered from the ‘stretch‘ to deliver challenging targets and seen how coaching can assist them break through the barriers they perceive. I use behavioural and psychological coaching tools in the context of aligning personal and organisational goals. I have an openness to learn from clients and am able to give both challenge and support in an authentic way. Eg raising awareness in the client of patterns of thinking and behaviour that could be getting in the way.
