WOMEN LACK CONFIDENCE TO FIGHT FOR EQUAL PAY

A lack of confidence still hinders women’s progress and access to equal pay at work, finds research.

Three-quarters of female professionals (75%) have never negotiated a pay rise, and 54% of women are unsatisfied with pay, feeling it’s not a fair reflection of what they do, finds a report from professional recruitment firm, Robert Walters. Men on average receive a bigger increase following negotiation, says the report. Just one-fifth of women know what they need to do to get a promotion, while 41% state lack of opportunities as the biggest barrier...
