TRAIN ADULTS TO PLUG SKILLS GAP

The UK Government is under pressure to produce a national strategy for adult education.

In January, former skills minister and Labour backbencher David Lammy wrote to apprenticeships and skills minister Robert Halfon. Signed by more than 60 MPs including Angela Rayner, shadow education secretary; Gordon Marsden, shadow further education and skills minister, and Chi Onwurah, chair of the all party parliamentary group for adult education, the letter called for lifelong learning to be prioritised.
