Eric Parsloe: EMCC leading light is busier than ever
Eric Parsloe, who has just retired, may speak his mind, but one thing is for sure. The co-founder of the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC) and founder of the Oxford School of Coaching and Mentoring is passionate about coaching and mentoring.
Ill-health recently forced him to take a back seat and his son Ed now runs the OCM, although he remains as its non- executive chairman. Parsloe, however, told Coaching at Work that he is enjoying his retirement, acting as a volunteer coach-mentor to colleagues.
He is also taking an interest in politics again. In his youth he was a professional organiser for the Labour Party and he gained a degree in Politics and Economics from Oxford. He once stood for parliament.
In 2007, Parsloe was awarded the EMCC President’s medal and in 2008 he was elected honorary life-vice president of EMCC UK. He recently joined the EMCC’s advisory board.
HSBC’s Dimmock joins Clutterbuck
Liz Dimmock has joined Clutterbuck Associates as managing partner. She will work alongside David Clutterbuck to build the practice, further develop research and support organisations to achieve maximum change, value and impact from their coaching and mentoring programmes. The creation of the role signals new owner General Physics’ commitment to growth.
Dimmock was formerly head of coaching at HSBC, developing best practice coaching at the most senior levels. “I’m passionate about raising the standards of coaching – both in a corporate sense, through how organisations effectively maximise the value and sustainability of coaching, but also at an individual coach level,” said Dimmock.
KPMG boosts internal coaching
KPMG has appointed Louise Buckle as lead coach for advisory services. She will further develop KPMG’s coaching infrastructure and community of practice.
Buckle is a graduate of i-coach academy’s MA in Professional Coaching. She will continue as a research associate with Sheffield Hallam University Coaching and Mentoring Unit and as a coach with the NHS Coaching Register.
Sara Hope, who played a pivotal role in embedding KPMG’s internal coaching, is leaving to focus on her own coaching practice, The Internal Coach, supporting organisations to develop an internal capability.
KPMG will continue to leverage Sara’s expertise through its external Associate Coach programme. The professional services provider is now recruiting for a second lead coach on its audit practice.

International Coaching Week
The International Coach Federation (ICF) is gearing up for International Coaching Week, a week-long global celebration of coaching on 7-13 February 2010. The ICF hopes the worldwide activities will raise the profile of coaching among the public.
“The ICF is committed to making the event the best ever because of its long-standing passion to integrate coaching into the community, making it a way of life,” said spokeswoman Kish Modasia.
Modasia urges coaching professionals to think about how they can take part: “How will you participate to raise the profile of coaching for yourself and for buyers of coaching?”
